I need Help!

topic posted Mon, July 14, 2008 - 11:03 PM by  Michy ~ Phoe...
Hello Friends,

For two weeks now I have been suffering from an acute migraine at the back of my head. I went into hospital for tests and a CAT scan which thankfully didn't show up anything sinister (and reassured me that I actually have a brain! LOL).
However, they couldn't do anything about the pain. They gave me 2 different types of painkiller, one of which worsened the problem and had me being sick all day. A friend on Tribe suggested Turmeric, which has lessened the pain, but hasn't got rid of it.

Any tips or suggestions would be helpful, as I can't take much more of this permanent migraine.

Thank you and blessings to you all, Michy

  • My hubby used to think he had migraines. They'd start at the back of his head and move forward. If he didn't get rid of them, he'd end of vomiting. We've since found out that what he thought were migraines were actually extreme tension headaches. Migraines usually start in one or both eyes. My hubby used to get relief by submerging his head and neck in really hot water. Now that I have become a massage therapist, I have been able to get rid of every headache he's gotten by massaging the back of the neck, the levator scapulae, and the sub-occipital area. Twice I've had to do a second treatment a half hour after the first, but it's worked every time. I mentioned it because you said your headache started in the back. Maybe this will work for you! I used the Tuina headache treatment. It works!
    • you can also try
      meditation
      accupuncture

resting in a quiet room for hours

      camomile tea

      foot massage

elimination diet.. what started it? MSG!? fst food with bad oil?

2 weeks is a whiel to have a horrible headache
keep track of changes and what help/cause more changes
  • For some people severe headaches may be caused by digestive problems. To find out if that's your case, start by eliminating obvious culprits in your diet - excess sweeteners, especially high fructose corn syrup and sugar - excess refined wheat flour (white bread, pizza, etc.) - excess fats, especially trans-fats. Or your diet might be too acidic. If the turmeric helped you some, this might be the case. Turmeric is great for you all around, so keep taking it... You might want to drink a cup of aloe juice after meals to change your pH.

Another approach might be with a chiropractor or massage therapist as it might be postural or structural in origin.

And yet another approach might be a little gentle aerobic exercise or some gentle yoga.
  • how about something different than a pain killer.. like valium ro another tranquilizer..juts to allow you to relax

    I wish you well.
    • I had similar issues several years ago, with migraines that lasted for several months, day after day. Like you, I had MRIs, CAT scans, and an MRA (magnetic resonance imaging of the blood vessels in the brain). Nothing showed up. The only thing that gave me temporary relief -- which lasted about 2 days -- was a shot of dilaudid, which is a general anesthetic. The doctors tried that at the ER when everytthing else had failed. I slept for 15 hours and woke pain-free.

But, of course, the pain returned after a couple of days. I finally found that massage, and especially foot massage, helped. I also used some homeopathic remedies that were prescribe for me from a very skilled practitioner.

Judging from what you said, I would actually suspect that the real culprit is in your neck, not your head. So a visit to the chiropractor or massage therapist -- or both -- might be the best way to get some relief. You might also consult a medical intuitive if you know of any, or look for one here on Tribe.

After a few months, the headaches vanished, and I've only had a few episodes (all brief) in the five years since then.
      • Since you asked for help, I take that to mean any type of help. I will do a powerful spiritual mind treatment for you now, 8:40pm pst July 15th.
  • May I suggest vaporized cannabis. I find this greatly reduces headaches of both the tension and migraine variety .
    • Thank you all so much for taking the time to help me, it is appreciated and I will let you know how I get along.

I do need all the help I can get at the moment, and I shall definitely do some of the things suggested.

What exactly is vapourised Cannabis? As cannabis is unfortunately a class C drug it's not easy to come by in England, I wish I still lived in Germany where it is de-criminalised, and Holland is only a two hour drive away, as I did find that it eased pain.

Words can't express how grateful I am to you all.

Blessings to all of you, Michy
