This forum has not been so active lately, although there are at least dozens of Reiki practitioners (and other people trained in other energy-healing systems) who are members of Tribe.net

Okay, speaking for myself... what I think of in response to your query is - I hesitate to use the term "medicine" - the channeling of spiritual energy for the purpose of one or more of these several kinds of healing:

    1. Inner healing of the person – substantial improvements in outlook, mood, self-image, calmness, capability, ability to relate interpersonally, increased sense of spirituality, and the like.

    2. General physical healing – improvements to general wellbeing, daily energy level, resistance to colds, restful sleep, and the like.

    3. Specific physical healing – resolution of an infection, an acute illness, a chronic illness, disappearance of tumors, healing of a diseased organ, and the like.

I'm trained in Reiki, and have had the so-called "master attunement" in Reiki for the last five years.

Nevertheless, I consider myself an explorer and learner, and not "a master" of anything.

Mostly I've observed Reiki to have effects in the first two of the above categories. Some people have stories about Reiki actually having some effects, in certain cases, that might correspond to category 3. So, one doesn't like to become closed-minded.

      Tanemon,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a long response. Blessings to you.

I would like to humbly ask again as to why you would "hesitate" to use the term medicine?

      your fellow explorer and student,

It's just a personal quirk, I guess. For one thing, I have no training in the field of "mdeicine" as it's understood within mainstream North American society. Also, although I respect the abilities and efficacies of the Native-American "medicine man" (shaman), I'm not trained in their path, either (nor do I have any Native-American ancestry).

Also, the healing effects of he energy work that I do are mainly in the first two categories that I described in my first post, above. Of course, I believe that deep psychological healing (healing of the person) and healing at the general level of a person's physical functioning are important. But to my mind, these are a little different from "medicine" that can be "aimed" pretty specifically at a particular ailment.

To spell out what some of my own healing has included at the physical level, via Reiki: My daily energy level increased by maybe 20%, which was significant (less tired, more ability to work efficiently & accomplish, etc). My reisistance to colds and flu increased HUGELY. A tendency for a skin infection symptom that I'd had (around my eyelids) since age 5 disappeared. All these things are real blessings, but they were totally unpredictable. Other phsycial issues that I have have shown little or no response to Reiki treatment.

My search for expanded ability with energy healing continues. I feel very good about the way I've developed as a channel for healing, to this point. But the road stretches out in front of me very far indeed.

So, like I say, it's a personal thing with me, though I have no objections to other people using the term "vibrational medicine" or "energy medicine".

          Hello 155,

I practice Sound Healing. I really love it. I used sound currents, specifically the human voice to help balance the chakra system. I actually feel more like a teacher, because what I do is teach people how to use their voices to heal their ailments, insecurities, imbalances, etc. It's pretty fascinating stuff, especially if you are a music lover (and who isn't?)

          :)
